His will, not mine.

His will, not mine.

His will, not mine. sometimes this can be a difficult concept for us to grasp. We are pre-wired to be selfish, born as sinners. We can get in a routine of praying to God and in treating Him like a genie, we ask Him to grant our wishes. We seek Him out when we are in trouble. We plead for Him to intervene. However, if God granted OUR every wish, we would miss out on letting God be God. We would deprive ourselves of both letting Him help us grow through the trials and also recognizing His hand in the joy of our triumphs. We would miss out on the blessings He gives because we are so fixated on the present, we can’t see the future He wants to lay out before us.

But friends, God doesn’t force us to follow Him. “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.“ Revelation 3:20. He waits for an invitation because He wants a relationship with us. When we look back on our lives and the moments we pleaded for God to *just do this one thing for us* and He didn’t, we can now see that what He had in store for us was so much greater than where we were. In the moments we allowed Him to use me and the gifts He has given us, I have grown in ways that would otherwise be unfathomable. The Bible says in Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” His purpose.

Can we give up the control of thinking we know what’s best? Can we truly step back and say, Okay Lord, not my will, but Yours? So easily we give Him our broken moments but can we just as easily give Him our moments of joy and thanksgiving? Can we step away from the things the world tells us to do? We aren’t called to follow our hearts, We are called to follow Jesus.

We encourage you to reflect on where your relationship with God is, and remind you ‘His will, not mine’ is a much more peaceful place to be.
